Sunday's in the South - Bee Update

Sunday's have always been our day to spend time as a family. Now that we are empty nesters it is also our day to try something new like a new recipe, new restaurant or check out a new business. This year my husband decided to follow up on his interest in honey bees and start our own hives. In April we received our first bee package. It is fun watching the bees work.

A new part of our Sunday traditions is checking the hives, looking for the queen, larva, and to ensure they are in good health.

Sundays are for sitting on the porch smelling the hydrangeas and sipping tea and now also spending time with the bees.  Once we have an established hive we will be able to harvest some of the honey and wax. It may be next year. Hope your day of rest is full of fun and laughter.
